Laborer/Light Equipment Operator
The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the position of Laborer/Light Equipment Operator. The Brewer Public Works Department is dynamic and versatile department responsible for much of the city’s infrastructure including the maintenance and construction of streets, sidewalks, storm water, and sewer systems.

Experience with operating a variety of light equipment, working on construction type projects, as well as basic carpentry and masonry skills, and snow removal operations are highly desirable. However, we are willing to provide training to a candidate who has enthusiasm to learn and is a highly motivated, self-starter. The candidate selected for this position should already have a valid Class B Maine Commercial driver’s license, or have the ability to obtain one within 6- months of hire. Candidates must have a high school diploma, or a G.E.D. equivalent, in order to apply for this position. The selected candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire physical, drug screening, and background check. This is a full time position, which includes a comprehensive benefit package.

Mechanic
The City of Brewer, Maine is seeking a motivated, team-oriented, self-starter to fill the position of Mechanic. Brewer Public Works, Maintenance and Repair Section is charged with the full service of a vast array of equipment including automobiles, light and heavy trucks, fire equipment, diesel and gasoline powered construction equipment.

The successful candidate will have experience and appropriate qualifications to maintain, repair and service relevant equipment and vehicles. Experience with welding and a Class B CDL operator’s license are a plus. Advanced education or relevant certifications are preferred. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent is required. The successful candidate must be able to successfully pass a pre-hire drug screening and background check. This is a full time position that includes a comprehensive benefit package.
