It is the vision of the Brewer Fire Department to be known as a progressive and innovative fire department, providing the finest in fire, rescue and emergency medical services by utilizing the best personnel, training and equipment, creating a work environment that promotes the health and welfare of our members. Our Mission

The mission of the Brewer Fire Department is to minimize the loss of life and property resulting from fire, medical and other emergencies through prevention, safety education, mitigation strategies, fire suppression and emergency medical services. Public Education

The following services are offered through the Public Education Office.

Juvenile Fire Setter– Does your child have a fascination with fire? Have you caught him/her with matches or a lighter? Maybe they have even started a fire in or around the home? Contrary to popular belief, this is not just boys being boys. Most fire setting behavior has an underlying cause. Please contact the Public Education Officer for information about the Juvenile Fire Setter program.

Fire Extinguisher Class– Do you provide fire extinguishers throughout your business and expect employees to use them? If so, OSHA 1910 requires that you provide training for your employees. Please contact the Public Education Officer for more information.

CPR and First Aid Certification– We can provide your employees with CPR, first aid and AED training. Please contact us for more information.

Fire Engine Visit– Would you like a fire engine to visit your preschool or daycare? Maybe you are holding an Open House or Safety Day? Please contact us for more information.

Car Seat Inspection Station – a Certified technician will inspect your child car seat,
and show you how to correctly install and use it. For more information or to set up an appointment, please call the Brewer Fire Department at 989.7002 or the Orrington Fire Department at 825.3530.


The following services are offered through the Fire Inspections Department.

  • Chimney inspections
  • Pellet stove inspections
  • Help with smoke detector and CO detector locations for new and existing residential and apartment buildings
  • Knox Box Rapid Entry System information and locations

We offer inspections of homes and businesses, at no cost, to anyone who resides or does business in the City of Brewer. If you would like to schedule an inspection, please contact our Fire Inspector, Deputy Fire Chief Ralph Cammack, during regular business hours.
