After School Program – Like No Other!
The After School Program offers many activities and new experiences for your child. Grades K – 4 are held at the Brewer Auditorium, while Grades 5 & 6 are held at the Brewer Community School.
Pre-School T-Ball: Our youngest baseball players in pre-school, (ages 4 and 5), will learn the basics of America’s favorite pastime, (hitting, throwing, catching, and base running), along with sportsmanship, and teamwork. Instructional baseball runs during the month of May.
Little Sluggers Baseball: The Little Sluggers Baseball League is designed to introduce players (boys and girls) in kindergarten and grade one to the basic skills of America’s favorite pastime through fun games and practices. Players will learn important skills such as throwing, fielding, base running, batting (with or without a tee), and sportsmanship. All players receive a cap and t-shirt.
Sign up begins mid-April. The league runs for four weeks on Monday and Wednesday evenings (5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.), through the month of May. Schedules will be posted each season.

Our Adult Spring Volleyball Leagues run from March – May offering at least five different leagues or levels of play. League days and length of season may vary depending on the number of teams registered for each league. Due to time and space requirements, each league will have a limited number of teams, which will be accepted on a first paid – first entered basis. Tentative league nights are below:

Tuesday & Wednesday – Co-Ed Recreation
Thursday – Co-Ed Power
Golf “Fore” Women
The Brewer Parks & Recreation Department is once again offering Golf “Fore” Women, a four week lesson program beginning in mid-May. The program will be held Thursday evenings at the Pine Hill Golf Club with 5:30 and 6:30 PM time slot offerings. The group lessons are designed for players of all levels and will include fundamentals for the beginner as well as tips for the experienced player. PGA Professional Mark Hall will provide expert instruction. Registrations will be accepted upon a first paid first served basis and class sizes are limited. Fee is $55 for Brewer residents and $65 for non-residents. Registration information is available by contacting the Parks & Recreation office at 989-5199.
Youth Karate: Instructor Gary West will lead participants through progressive classes introducing Goju Karate Do. Introductory classes are a great way to improve participants’ self confidence, self control and respect while having fun.
Adult Karate: Improve your self control, confidence, awareness and respect, all while getting into shape with Instructor Gary West.
Adult Fitness Class: This new program provides an energizing workout that is perfect for all fitness levels and will enhance your overall health and well being with aerobic and conditioning routines. Participants should bring an exercise mat with them.
Zumba: Zumba with Tammy Smith has convenient class times to fit your busy schedule. Beginning March 3 the following schedule will be in effect:
Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings from 9-10 AM at the Brewer Auditorium.
Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30 PM at the old Brewer Public library on Union Street.
Resident fee: $40 per month; non-resident fee: $45 per month. Registation is required and forms are available at the Parks & Recreation office located in the Brewer Auditorium.
Older Adult Exercise Class: Older adults who are looking to improve their strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness will enjoy this class for the socialization as well as the health benefits.
Adult Yoga: Join certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor Bunny Barclay. Classes are designed to improve strength, flexibility, and balance, and to increase the minds ability to focus and relax through self awareness. Class format will also include postures and guided relaxation/meditation. Participants should bring a yoga mat with them.
Senior Citizen’s Club: The Brewer Senior Citizen’s Club meets regularly on Thursdays throughout the year at the Brewer Auditorium in the Seniors Center. Guest speakers, pot lucks, weekly card games, and trips provide local seniors the opportunity to socialize and stay active. For more information, contact us at Parks and Rec at 207.989.5199.
Flashlight Egg Hunt: The Flashlight Egg Hunt is held the Friday evening prior to Easter each year.(7:30 PM) Participants ages 6-10 have the opportunity to search for prize and candy filled eggs on Doyle Field. One grand prize will be presented along with a number of other special prizes. All participants should bring a flashlight with them.
Traditional Egg Hunt: The Annual Egg Hunt is held on the Saturday(10 AM) prior to Easter at the Brewer Auditorium and is open to youngsters ages 3 – 6. Participants will have the opportunity to search for candy filled and prize eggs. All youngsters will receive candy, prizes and the opportunity to win grand prize bicycles provided by the Brewer Kiwanis Club.
Spring Fling Dance: This special event offered in conjunction with area assisted living facilities offers residents of those facilities to enjoy a day of socializing & dancing along with other activities that provide a truly memorable experience.
Spring Children’s Yard Sale: The Parks & Recreation Department offers space in the Brewer Auditorium for those wishing to sell gently used children’s clothing and toys. The spring sale takes place in April with an additional fall sale being held in October. Lines form early for this favorite event for both shoppers & sellers.
